15. White scale: Pulvinaria maxima (Coccidae: Hemiptera)

 

Yellowing of leaves in isolated plants.  Scales are found on twigs, shoots and leaves. Adult is white in colour and convex in shape; about 650 - 900 eggs are laid in an ovisac by a female scale. Egg period 12-14 days;  6-7 generations in one year; Total life cycle completed in 6.5 - 8 weeks.
